Holly Hunter was an American actress, who gained fame for the films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, like an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. Her career in acting started on Broadway with a variety of Broadway as well as Off Broadway projects. As a child, Helen Keller was her most loved character from a fifth grade play. She was born deaf in the one ear after suffering from Mumps, but she didn't permit this to deter the determination of her to become an actress. At college, she was a theatre student and later moved from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, to New York City in pursuit of her goal. Hunter met Beth Henley by chance in a lift. They wrote together Broadway Crimes of the Heart. This was Hunter's acting debut. As she relocated into Los Angeles, Hunter tried to find movie roles. An supporting role was secured for Swing Shift. In the last three decades she's appeared in various TV series and movies. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was also awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
