Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized for her high-quality performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her movie Piano earned her an Oscar. Early on her acclaimed actress started acting on stage in various Broadway or Off-Broadway shows. Since the time she was in school, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. In the fifth grade, following a bout of mumps, she lost hearing in her left ear. However, she did not let it stop her from performing. The college she attended was drama, and then moved between Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her dream. She was introduced to Beth Henley in an elevator and they collaborated in Broadway Crimes of the Heart the first movie Hunter made. After moving from New York to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to find movie roles. The role of a supporting actress was securing for Swing Shift. In the years since, she has been in many shows and TV films throughout a span of more than 30 years. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received the Women in Film Lucy Award.
